The Blessings of Getting What You Asked For

2/19/14

Right before we got married, I had big dreams about what life in California was going to be like. And what life as a newly wed would be like. I was going to have a part time job while I finished school. I wanted to be called into the Young Women's presidency in our church ward. When I finished school, I was going to have a big, high paying job. We were going to buy a house.

Well... none of that happened. At least not when it "should have". I applied to so many little part time jobs. I was called to be Primary Chorister (far far from Young Women's- complete opposite end of the building too.) We didn't buy a house... nor did we want to out here. After I graduated, I expected to be able to land an amazing job.... and didn't. My life was not going as planned... and I asked for a job. I asked for young women's. I asked for something to keep me busy... + a year + a half later... I got what I asked for plus some.

As we sit right now... I have 3 jobs. 4 callings.
I'm a Jamberry Nails Consultant. I'm a nanny. I'm an Administrative Assistant for an online high school.
I'm YW 2nd Counselor. I'm a Sunday School teacher. I'm a pianist in Sacrament and in choir.

A year ago, I only dreamed of having one of each of these. Or maybe I dreamed of having them all... but one at a time. Feeling overwhelmed makes me forget that I asked for all of these. And I forget that we are so incredibly blessed. As crazy as it's turning out to be, I love getting what I asked for. And I know that I always (eventually) will.
